High School Placement

For over 50 years, A. Fantis has prepared our families of middle school students navigate the difficult process of high school admissions in NYC by collaborating to find the proper placement. From Laguardia and Brooklyn Tech, Dominican Academy and Xavier High School, Poly Prep and Berkeley-Carroll, our graduates have graduated from a variety of schools that best suits the needs of each individual student and family.

High School placement assistance begins in seventh grade. First, a rigorous curriculum combined with individualized support help our students prepare to complete Regents in Algebra, Living Systems and Greek. Seventh grade students also prepare for any applicable exams, such as the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT) and the Test for Admission into Catholic High Schools (TACHS), with tutoring assistance after-school.

In September, eighth grade students and families attend a planning meeting at school to review options and schedule important events for the year, including test dates and fairs. The A. Fantis High School Placement team meets with each student individually throughout the year as well to monitor progress.
