This year is an important transitional year where children move from learning to read to reading to learn.
Our school curriculum encourages students to think deeply, integrate learning, and show what they know through presentations, discussions, and written work. The structure of our activities teach students how to become active learners and responsible citizens in their community.
They promote independence, responsibility and self-confidence.
Students are exposed to a variety of writing, such as narratives, expository, descriptive, and persuasive texts.
Throughout the year, they work collaboratively in large and small groups and independently on constructing rich and coherent paragraphs and essays.
We explore many fun and exciting units, such as telling time, learning how to multiply and divide, interpret data and fractions, and explore two dimensional shapes. In science, we learn about animals and plants, and their ecosystems, the engineering process and more.
In social studies, we learn how to care for our environment, different cultures and communities.
Our activities are enhanced through manipulatives and technology everyday.
In third grade, you will learn how to write in cursive, take part in fun and engaging holidays, and celebrate important people in the world.
You will participate in an exciting poetry unit, read, interpret and create poetry.
We hope you will take a leap into an exciting, enriching and fun-filled school year! See you soon!
